Curb It! Goes Greener

New Curb It! trucks now fueled by compressed natural gas (CNG)

New Curb It! Collection Trucks Fueled
by Compressed Natural Gas

Watch for new Curb It! recycling collection trucks in September.  Sporting the message “Think Green, Think Clean,” the new trucks are fueled by compressed natural gas instead of diesel.

Compressed natural gas, or CNG for short, is a cleaner burning fuel that results in less air emissions than diesel, making it better for your health and the environment. Another benefit is it comes from natural gas sources in the United States, thereby reducing our nation’s reliance on foreign oil.

Waste Management (Metro Waste Authority’s contracted Curb It! recycling hauler) invested more than $2 million to build a CNG fueling station, and $4 million to purchase CNG-powered trucks. Metro Waste Authority helped make this investment possible by extending the Curb It! collection contract.

The Waste Management CNG fueling station will be the second station in the area.  The other station is located in Grimes.
