Okay, the Grammy’s are over for this year, but great music is at your fingertips. Are you dying to get your hands on the newest Mumford & Sons CD or Carrie Underwood’s hit song “Blown Away?” Check out Freegal at Johnston Public Library for free downloads of many of the 2013 Grammy award winners and nominees including Kelly Clarkson, Bonnie Rait, Jack White, Pink, Miguel, Alabama Shakes, Bruce Springsteen and more. Freegal is Johnston Library’s offering of free-and legal-downloadable music. You can use your Johnston library card to access thousands of songs from the entire Sony Music Library. With Freegal, you are able to download and keep 3 songs per week—that’s about 10 albums per year. You own the songs—it’s entirely free and legal.
To give Freegal a try, go to Johnston Public Library’s homepage at www.johnstonlibrary.com and click on the Freegal logo. Log in using your Johnston library card number and Personal Identification Number (PIN). A detailed list of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) explains how the service works.
Our subscription allows up to 3 individual downloads per week. A limit is placed on the total downloads that can be done by all users for each week. The service will indicate when the library's overall weekly limit has been reached. If our Freegal usage is maxed out for the week, simply try it again next week when the system refreshes on Monday mornings.
