J.D.'s Great Summer Adventure

J.D. the Dragon, the mascot for the Johnston Community School District, has taken off throughout the city of Johnston for his Great Summer Adventure. Help us find J.D. by joining the community-wide scavenger hunt and win great prizes for you and your family.

Every week J.D. will be hiding in a different spot throughout Johnston to illustrate important safety tips. Your job is to visit J.D.’s website at http://johnstoncrimeprevention.wordpress.com, identify his location from the photo posted on the site, and tell us where he is by sending an email or delivering this top secret info in person to Johnston Public Library. Bonus points will go to family teams who visit J.D.’s secret location and take a picture of themselves in J.D.’s hiding spot. New photos of J.D. in different locations will be posted on the website every week and teams receive entries into our prize drawing for each correct weekly entry received. The contest runs May 22 through July 17.  J.D. will be at the Jazz in July concert at Johnston Public Library on July 22 from 6:00 to 8:30 to draw for contest winners.

Grand Prize Family Overnight Outing – an overnight stay for 7 in the Bunk Bed Suite at Stoney Creek Inn

Family Night Out – 6 Carmike movie tickets and pizza gift card to Encore Pizza

Family Night In – Dahl’s Gift Card

Family Night In – Hy-Vee family dinner and movie

Official Rules:

• A team is a family from one household. Each team needs to consist of at least one adult and one child.
• All entries must be received by email or in person by 12:00 noon CDT each Tuesday for the prior week, i.e. week 1 entry is due by noon on Tuesday, May 29.
• New photos of J.D.’s location will be posted at noon each Tuesday.
• All entries, including photographs, become the property of the City of Johnston. Participation provides the City of Johnston the permission to use photos and names to promote “J.D.’s Great Summer Adventure” via electronic and print media and/or for local media coverage.
  
  

How to Sumbit J.D.’s Location:

• Option 1: Email your answer for J.D.’s location to jdinjohnston@gmail.com; correct answers earn one team entry into the prize drawing. Email must include the subject line, “J.D.’s Great Summer Adventure”, your team name, address, phone number, and the specific location of J.D.’s location.
  
  
• Option 2: Take a team picture in J.D.’s exact weekly location (photo must include at least one member of the team), email it to us at jdinjohnston@gmail.com and earn five team entries. . Email must include the subject line, “J.D.’s Great Summer Adventure”, your team name, address, phone number, and photo with J.D.’s location.
  
  
• Option 3: Take your answer and/or your photo and deliver them in person to J.D.’s dropbox at Johnston Public Library to receive the appropriate number of entries (answer only =1 entry, answer and photo =5 entries).
