A Natural (Recycled) Alternative to Lawn & Garden Chemicals
When you put your yard waste on the curb, it gets “recycled” at our Metro Compost Center. The grass clippings, leaves, branches and yard waste bags heat up to 140 degrees – hot enough to kill weed seeds. After several months, it’s ground up and resold as Turf Gold Premium Compost – created by residents for residents.
Here's before and after photos of a Soil-Tek project, using its Terraseeding method.
Soil-Tek is one of many local firms using Turf Gold Compost.
What is Compost?
Compost is an organic matter with the unique ability to improve the chemical, physical and biological characteristics of soils. It contains plant nutrients, but is not characterized as a fertilizer. Just as green cleaning products are a “natural” alternative, our compost is an alternative to fertilizers containing hazardous and toxic chemicals.
