MWA Blog: Dispose of Tires for Free

Residents are cleaning out their homes this spring. Many area communities are hosting free disposal of old tires. Find out if your community is participating.

Community Tire Drop-Offs are Planned,
So Mark Your Calendar

When it’s time to buy new tires, treat your old tires as well as they've treated you – by disposing of them properly. Dumping and stockpiling used tires can create serious health and safety risks. In Iowa, it’s illegal to dump tires, and non-shredded tires are banned from landfills. Metro Waste Authority and several communities in the metro-area offer an annual opportunity to help residents dispose of old tires legally and free of charge.

Reference the chart below to see when your community is holding its upcoming tire collection.
