Urbandale & WDM residents, we understand recycling can be a little more challenging on windy days like today. Consider the following tips to ensure your recyclables make it to the sorting facility, and not covering your neighborhood!
1. Place heavier materials at the top of your Curb It! cart and lighter items toward the bottom, keeping newspapers and other lightweight items from blowing out of your cart.
2. Consider putting smaller items that might blow away in a brown paper grocery bag, then fold or staple it closed.
3. Make sure everything fits inside your Curb It! cart – with the lid completely shut. Flatten cardboard boxes and smash your plastic milk jugs and bottles to make more space.

4. Take your cart to the curb the morning of pick-up, rather than the evening before and, if you can, take it back to your garage right after your recycling has been picked up.
5. If your Curb It! cart is less than half full, consider holding your recycling until the next scheduled pick-up day.
