New Website Launches on April Fool's Day (Blog)

MWA launches new website on April Fool's Day.

No Fooling!

As of Monday, our website sports a new look. Our services expanded over time, and now our website has, too. Here's some new ways we hope to keep you more informed about safe, smart recycling and waste disposal options:

  • Alert System - We can add an alert for announcements such as collection delays or the start of Compost It! Season (which is this week).
  • Customer Service Numbers – We serve multiple cities and one county. Each uses Curb It!, but the garbage, yard waste and household hazardous waste services vary for each. We have community-specific phone numbers to call by city once you set your location.
  • Extra Trash & Large Items – You can't fit your old sofa in your garbage cart, so we have a page for that. You can learn what stickers to buy and how many you’ll need to place your item at the curb based on your city's program.
  • Recycling & Disposal Guide – We are continually adding to our online recycling and disposal guide. You can search for what you want to get rid of and view the local options. Check out where you can get rid of TVs and computers.
  • Been to the Landfill? It's not often a resident has to visit the landfill, but our recycling services are growing there. Learn what we accept and what to expect when you arrive.
  • That Paint Place – Most know our Metro Hazardous Waste Drop-Off as “the place in Bondurant that takes paint.” It takes even more than that. Learn more.
  • Calendar – Spring is coming and we have drop-off events listed with more to come. The calendar also lets you know if it's a Curb It! green or black lid week. Or look ahead for the next holiday collection delay.

Our Partner
Metro Waste Authority partnered with Spinutech, a website firm based in Cedar Falls, to revamp the new site. Spinutech was recently named a finalist in the Technology Association of Iowa’s eighth annual Prometheus Awards, which are scheduled to be announced April 9. We are rooting for them!
