Paper Food and Beverage Cartons Now Accepted in Curb It!

Paper Food and Beverage Cartons Now Accepted in Curb It!

You Can Keep More Things out of the Landfill

You can now include more paper products in your recycling cart than ever before.
The Curb It! recycling program now accepts paper food and beverage cartons -
the kind with a slick coating. Below is a list of products commonly sold in these
types of cartons:

  • Milk, including soy, chocolate and cream
  • Juice
  • Protein drinks
  • Wine
  • Egg substitutes
  • Soup and broth

Be sure keep recycling all other accepted materials in Curb It! as well.

Recycling Evolves
The list of recyclable items continues to grow as sorting technology and demand for recycled products increase. Cartons collected through our recycling program are sorted at Greenstar, the recycling facility, by a newly developed “optical eye” that detects the material and then separates it. The material is then sold to ReWall – a new company in Des Moines - to make construction materials.
