Robert Half Employment Corner – An Introduction

I’m excited to be joining the Johnston Patch network, my name is Mike Gremmer and I’m a Regional Vice President for Robert Half International overseeing operations for our professional staffing divisions in Iowa and Nebraska. While I’m based out of our Des Moines office, I’m a proud resident of Johnston. For those of you who aren’t familiar with Robert Half International, we are a specialized staffing firm. Our team of staffing professionals help match business organizations with skilled talent, while assisting job-seekers in finding meaningful employment.

As a Johnston resident, I know that hiring and employment continue to be top of mind for all of us, especially given the current economy. Despite the mixed reports however, there are some bright spots in the job market. While some may perceive Iowa as a quiet Midwestern state filled with corn fields and soy beans, what many don’t realize is that Iowa is a hot market for job growth, with the Des Moines ranking as the top city for young professionals and the second best city for jobs by Forbes magazine. In Johnston specifically, we’re seeing great demand for professionals in staff accountants, accounts payable, loan processors, help desk analysts and receptionists. 

I’ll be using this blog as an opportunity to discuss the hiring trends impacting local Johnston residents, and share job search tips and advice that will help job seekers get their foot in the door.
