βPerforming in a state of the art facility and working towards the goal of gifting the best performance you possibly can is a great motivator to young adults,β Shepard said. βGetting to share our story to the audience each time our group takes the stage as individual performers and as a group is a powerful experience for every young performer.β
The show choir is led by Eric Shepard, vocal music director for Johnston High School. The students raised money for their trip through various fundraisers and donations.

βThis group of students has overcome adversity throughout the season and have learned to focus on the important parts of participating in a competitive show choir through singing and continual improvement of their show,β Shepard said. Β βEach member of this group has grown not only as performers but as individuals as well. Β They take each challenge set before them, and work together to make improvements each and every time they take that stage.β
Johnston is no stranger to the national competition. They took home the top prize in 2007, and was named Grand Champion of the event.
Innovation will perform at 3 p.m. on April 6 and has the potential to perform in the final four during the evening show.Β Click here for more information on the 2013 Show Choir National Championship Series.
