📰 News we're reading

• Possible Merger Of Arnolds Park & Okoboji Police Depts. Is Apparently Off The Table (exploreokoboji.com) — Okoboji officials have decided not to move forward with merging the city’s police department with neighboring Arnolds Park, after reviewing staffing and cost information tied to upcoming retirements. The two departments will instead continue operating separately, while still sharing an investigator through their existing 28E agreement and occasionally covering both towns with a single on-duty officer when needed.

• Arnolds Park Amusement Park to open Saturday following record 2025 season (ktiv.com) — Arnolds Park Amusement Park, a major draw for the Okoboji area, reopens this Saturday, May 16, with new rides, upgraded games, and premium experiences built around West Lake Okoboji. Locals can book weekly Queen II dinner and wine cruises, or even “dinner in the sky” on the Ferris wheel during three special evenings this summer. Park leaders expect another strong tourism season after last year’s record attendance.
