101-Year-Old at Legacy Pointe Celebrates Birthday by Helping Others
Margaret George, a resident of The Village at Legacy Pointe retirement community in Waukee, recently celebrate her 101st birthday in a thoughtful fashion.

Margaret George, a resident of The Village at Legacy Pointe retirement community in Waukee celebrated her 101st birthday on Feb. 20 by helping others, reports the Dallas County News.
Instead of sending cards that George has trouble reading cards, she asked friends and family to help her celebrate by donating 101 cans of food for the Waukee Food Pantry.
She got the idea from fellow Legacy Pointe resident Marlin Docter, who takes a delivery of donated items to the pantry every Wednesday.

βWe all just have to help each other out,β George told the newspaper about her unique birthday celebration.
George has lived at Legacy Pointe since 2007 and she offered advice on how to live to age 101 and to thrive.

βTake life one day at a time and remember that laughter really is the best medicine,β she told the newspaper. βI try to find something to laugh about every day and I donβt worry because thereβs nothing to worry about.β
Melissa Stimple, director of the Food Pantry, appreciated the donations.
βOur organization serves and average of 100 families each month and we couldnβt do it without the help of wonderful people by Mrs. George and Mr. Docter,β she said in the story. βThey are such a blessing and inspiration to us all.β
