• Court documents: Waukee football coach had BAC triple the legal limit at time of OWI arrest (kcci.com) — A Waukee High School head football coach was recently arrested on suspicion of operating while intoxicated after officers reported his blood alcohol level was significantly above Iowa's legal limit. Court records say police found him after a reckless driving report and that he'd been drinking in Grimes before driving toward Waukee. School officials have not yet said if he'll coach this week's season opener.
• State News: Record Iowa State Fair Attendance, OWI Arrest and Measles Cases (westerniowatoday.com) — Statewide news includes confirmation from the Waukee Community School District that a local football coach and teacher reported his recent OWI arrest to his team, with officials saying they'll follow district policy. The update appears alongside record Iowa State Fair attendance, a serious skydiving accident, a southern Iowa measles outbreak, and other statewide developments.
• Centennial, Ankeny set lofty goals for high school football season (kcci.com) — Ankeny High's football team opens its season this Friday with a road game at Waukee Northwest, where the Hawks' inexperienced offense will lean on a confident, veteran defense. Crosstown rival Ankeny Centennial also kicks off at home the same night, with coaches expecting a tough Central Iowa schedule and emphasizing staying healthy for a postseason push.
