• Council approves final budget changes ahead of public hearing (freemanjournal.net) — Webster City’s council has trimmed several revenue projections and approved millions in added spending for streets, utilities, and capital projects, sending the amended fiscal 2026 budget to a June 15 public hearing. Council members also set new pay raises and insurance plans for city staff, advanced backyard chicken rules, and closed out two major road projects that finished slightly under budget. 
• City's urban renewal districts combined; Edible Gardens agreement ratified (freemanjournal.net) — Webster City’s council has merged its industrial and Riverview urban renewal districts, dramatically boosting tax-increment funds for downtown revitalization and administration. Council also advanced a major incentive package for Edible Gardens’ planned protein drink factory and approved steeply discounted lots plus relaxed terms to spur new home construction in Brewer Creek Estates.
• Softball Game Preview: Webster City Lynx vs. Storm Lake Tornadoes (maxpreps.com) — Webster City softball fans can watch the Lynx take on Storm Lake at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday after a tough 10-0 loss to Humboldt. With both offenses quiet in recent games, strong pitching could decide whether Webster City repeats its 2024 win over the Tornadoes.
