Traffic is down to one guided lane with a 10-foot width limit, but waits should stay under 10 minutes and work is slated to wrap up before Memorial Day, weather permitting. 
• Headlines for Thursday, May 7, 2026 (kansaspublicradio.org) — Several southeast Kansas schools, including those in Chanute, briefly locked down Wednesday after police received hoax phone calls about shootings, which investigators now call swatting. • Buhler Boys Golf Team Placed 7th at Home Invite - Ad Astra Radio (adastraradio.com) — Chanute High School’s boys golf team finished just one stroke behind Independence at the 36-hole I-135 Buhler Invitational, carding a 695 team score over two courses in Newton and Hesston. The strong regional field was topped by Andover Central, while Buhler, the host, placed seventh overall in Monday’s competition.
