Local chiropractor also leads young adult ministry (derbyinformer.com subscription) — Derby residents may know chiropractor Dr. Ross Rawlins from Integrity Chiropractic, but many are also connecting with his weekly young adult ministry at The Well Worship Center. What began in his living room now gathers area young adults every Wednesday night for faith discussions, mentoring, and community-building that extends into everyday life around Derby and Wichita. 
2. Derby student takes part in marine research expedition (derbyinformer.com) — A Derby High School graduate, Abigail Jewett, recently joined a select Emporia State team on a shark research expedition off Miami, gaining hands-on experience that will shape her future as a science teacher. Her week on a research vessel, tagging sharks and visiting cutting-edge marine labs, showed how real-world science can inspire the kind of classroom experiences she hopes to bring back to Kansas students.
3. Summer academy inspires next generation of teachers (derbyinformer.com) — Derby is well represented at Emporia State’s Kansas Future Teacher Academy, where a former Derby educator presented and Derby High School senior Abbey Westerberg explored a possible teaching career. The five-day residential program brought together 93 Kansas students to experience modern, hands-on teaching methods and build networks that could eventually benefit classrooms back home, including in Derby.
4. Former lawmaker remembered for faith, love of community, decades of service (kansas.com) — Derby is mourning former state representative Don Myers, a longtime resident who proudly called the city home and represented a district that included Derby for 18 years. Remembered for his conservative values, community service, and frequent presence at local patriotic events, Myers’ life will be celebrated at a funeral on Aug. 7 at South Rock Christian Church in Derby.
