1. Flint Hills Digital Campus proposed for Emporia and Lyon County (wibw.com) — A major “Flint Hills Digital Campus” is being planned in Emporia and Lyon County, promising advanced computing facilities, new high-paying jobs, and a stronger tax base. Local leaders say the multi-phase project could reshape Emporia’s economy for decades, but emphasize it’s still in predevelopment and will rely heavily on public input about infrastructure, zoning, and long-term community impacts.

2. Lyon County Commission to field several budget requests Wednesday (kvoe.com) — Lyon County commissioners will hear budget requests Wednesday from key county offices and local groups including Emporia Main Street, SOS, Lyon County Extension and the Street Cats Club. On Thursday, they’ll consider over $11,000 for annual mailers and a proposed upgrade to Road W, with both meetings open at the courthouse commission chambers.

3. Logan Avenue petitioner set to end collections Wednesday, well ahead of Monday deadline (kvoe.com) — Emporia parents and supporters are racing to submit a petition that could force another review of the planned closure of Logan Avenue Elementary. Organizer Olivia Grover says they’ve already collected more than the required signatures, but they still must be validated before the Emporia school board takes a final vote on the school’s future.

4. Five from Hornet Baseball Named Academic All-District (esuhornets.com) — Emporia State baseball fans can celebrate five Hornet players earning CSC Academic All-District honors for their strong work in the classroom and on the field. Several, including Grant Huffman and Blake Myers, are also Academic All-America finalists, with national teams to be announced June 23. Their achievements highlight both academic rigor and standout MIAA performances.
