• Fort Hays State to close Sternberg Museum, home of popular collection of fossils, paleontology exhibits (ljworld.com) — Fort Hays State University will close Hays’ Sternberg Museum of Natural History to the public in mid-December to help plug a major budget shortfall. The move saves about $850,000 a year but threatens a beloved local institution along I-70, as staff now focus on preserving collections and leaders say only permanent new funding could keep the museum open.
