• Area students earn state FFA degrees (iolaregister.com subscription) — Iola High School students Tayten Salzwedel and Rohan Springer have earned prestigious State FFA Degrees, recognizing their leadership, agricultural work, and community involvement. They were honored at the Kansas FFA Convention alongside students from Marmaton Valley and Yates Center after meeting strict academic, work, and leadership requirements. 
• Pitt pitcher coaches Iola (iolaregister.com subscription) — Iola’s American Legion Junior Indians baseball team is kicking off the season under new head coach Ryker Curry, a former Iola standout now pitching for Pittsburg State. With a young but talented roster drawn from Iola, Moran, Colony, Marmaton Valley and Crest, Curry hopes to develop the squad and push them back to the 17U state tournament.
