Local seniors and homebound Kansas City residents share why clear rules, secure drop boxes, and early in‑person options are crucial for making their votes count.
   

2. Man sentenced for 2017 killing of teen at Kansas City, Kansas, laundromat (fox4kc.com) — A man has been sentenced to 18 years in state prison for the 2017 killing of 15-year-old December Htoo at a laundromat in Kansas City. Wyandotte County investigators revived the cold case after linking a recovered gun and vehicle footage to the defendant, who had already been incarcerated for unrelated crimes.
   

3. Vows and virtues: Benedictine Sisters of Mount St. Scholastica in Atchison - The Leaven Catholic Newspaper (theleaven.org) — Benedictine Sisters of Mount St. Scholastica support Kansas City through Donnelly College and the Keeler Women’s Center, which offers education, advocacy, and spiritual growth for women in the urban core. Their ministries, rooted in prayer and hospitality, also include retreats, elder care, and lay oblate programs, giving local residents multiple ways to seek support, formation, and community connection.
   

4. American Royal Opens New Kansas Campus, Plans Year-Round Growth (brownfieldagnews.com) — Public funding from Kansas City and Wyandotte County is helping build the American Royal’s new $400 million Kansas campus, which just hosted its first livestock show. Leaders say the larger, modern facility will expand year‑round agriculture events, education programs, and even sports and concerts, drawing more visitors and economic activity to the area over the next several years.
