Lenexa Planning Commission Approves Plans for 346-Unit Multifamily Development (ingrams.com) — Lenexa’s Planning Commission has signed off on final plans for Canyon Ridge Apartments, a 346-unit complex at K-10 and Canyon Creek Boulevard that also includes an 80-bed nursing home and convenience store. The 36-acre project, previously rezoned by the City Council, will add garages, a clubhouse and pool, and new neighborhood services as it’s built out.

2. MO: KC metro boosts public transportation for the World Cup. But will it stick around? (masstransitmag.com) — Lenexa residents will have new free shuttle and bus options during the 2026 World Cup, including direct service from Kansas City International Airport to Lenexa City Center and circulator routes through Johnson County. These temporary lines connect to World Cup festivities and Arrowhead Stadium, and county leaders hope strong ridership could help keep some expanded transit running after the tournament ends.

The best things to do this month in KC: June 2026 (kansascitymag.com) — Lenexa’s Sar-Ko-Par Trails Park will host the 42nd annual Kansas State Championship barbecue cook-off June 26–27, with public festival fun Friday and competition Saturday. The wider roundup also spotlights concerts, festivals, World Cup watch parties, and cultural events across the Kansas City metro throughout June, giving Lenexa residents plenty of reasons to explore nearby neighborhoods.

Jeronimus, Franchione inducted into MIAA Hall of Fame (morningsun.net) — A former Pittsburg State basketball standout from Lenexa, Lizzy Jeronimus, has been inducted into the MIAA Hall of Fame after a record-setting college career. The ceremony also honored longtime football coach Dennis Franchione and recognized Pittsburg State’s dominance across multiple sports, including track, football, soccer and baseball, at a Kansas City awards celebration.
