Superintendents say they’re diverting about $1,400 per student from general education, leaving positions unfilled and programs strained while they push lawmakers to meet the state’s 92% funding requirement before the current formula expires in 2027. 
• Child dies from injuries after Overland Park apartment fire (kmbc.com) — Lenexa firefighters helped battle a deadly apartment fire in Overland Park where one child has now died and others, including another child, remain hospitalized. Crews from Lenexa, Overland Park and Shawnee rescued multiple victims from the Sheridan Ridge Apartments as they fought the early-morning blaze still under investigation.
