• Facebook Marketplace tractor dispute lands Johnson County man in jail (kmbc.com) — A Merriam man has been sentenced in Leavenworth County after a Facebook Marketplace tractor purchase spiraled into threats and stalking against the seller’s family. He’ll serve 60 days in jail, then a year of supervised probation, and must complete anger management, a substance abuse evaluation, and avoid contact with the victims. 
• Kansas City to decide on extended alcohol sales for World Cup (fox4kc.com) — Merriam is currently the only Johnson County city opting to allow alcohol sales until 5 a.m. during this summer’s World Cup, giving local bars and liquor stores the option to stay open much later. Other nearby cities are still deciding, so residents and business owners should watch for possible changes that could shift late-night crowds into or out of Merriam.
• Davids Announces Funding to Improve Healthcare Access in Kansas' Third District (house.gov) — Merriam residents who rely on Health Partnership Clinic should see continued access to primary, dental, and behavioral health care thanks to a new $2.6 million federal grant. The funding will help keep clinics in Merriam and nearby cities staffed and affordable, especially for families affected by recent Medicaid cuts and rising healthcare costs.
