Nigerian national living in Olathe charged with illegally voting in 2024 election (fox4kc.com) — A 67-year-old Nigerian national living in Olathe has been federally indicted for allegedly falsely claiming U.S. citizenship and casting a ballot in the November 2024 election. Prosecutors say he registered to vote back in 2010 as a permanent resident, which does not confer voting rights, and was one of a dozen people recently arrested nationwide in connection with alleged election-related crimes.

Davids Secures New Grant to Deliver Emergency Shelter, Counseling, Legal Support for Kansas Crime Victims (house.gov) — Olathe is set to benefit from new federal crime-victim funding, with Representative Sharice Davids highlighting more than $27 million previously secured for local law enforcement, including officer recruitment in the city. A fresh $11.4 million DOJ grant to Kansas will bolster crisis counseling, emergency shelter, legal advocacy, and hotlines, strengthening support networks that serve Olathe and surrounding Johnson County communities.
