Osawatomie hail: Neighbors describe damage from storm (kmbc.com) — Osawatomie residents are cleaning up after a severe hail and wind storm that damaged homes, downtown buildings, and the high school, leaving one couple’s house badly hit. A state of emergency now covers Osawatomie, Paola, and all of Miami County as officials coordinate response and cleanup efforts.

2. Miami County car dealership fills pickup trucks with supplies for Hillsdale tornado victims (kshb.com) — A Paola car dealership at 32575 Old KC Road is collecting water, food, diapers, and other essentials to load into pickup trucks for Hillsdale tornado victims, with deliveries planned for Friday. Staff with local ties launched the effort through a partnership with the Giving Hope nonprofit, and they’re asking Miami County residents to help fill as many trucks as possible.

Missouri tornado, new fine dining in JoCo & more: KC stories you may have missed (kansascity.com) — Paola took a direct hit from tennis ball-size hail this week, prompting Miami County to declare a state of emergency after widespread damage to homes, vehicles, and other structures in Paola and Osawatomie. The regional news roundup also notes a Clinton, Missouri tornado, a new Johnson County restaurant, a luxury Basehor estate listing, and political backlash over comments by Sen. Roger Marshall.

4. Walter Neal Brown (linncountyjournal.com) — Family and friends are remembering Walter Neal Brown, born in Paola in 1955 and longtime Mapleton resident, who passed away March 16 at age 70. Loved for his friendly nature and four-wheeler rides, he leaves behind children, siblings, grandchildren, and many relatives. Graveside services are set for April 17 at Miami Memorial Gardens, with a celebration April 18 at Hidden Valley Shelter House.
