• From Brookside to Bonner Springs, here are 17 farmers markets across the KC metro (kansascitymag.com) — Shawnee residents can shop the Shawnee Farmers Market outside City Hall at 11110 Johnson Drive every Saturday from 7 a.m. to noon through October. The guide also highlights 16 other Kansas City–area markets, from Overland Park’s newly renovated year-round pavilion to smaller neighborhood spots, so you can compare options for local produce, meats, and handmade goods.
   

• Johnson County announces transit schedule for World Cup (fox4kc.com) — Shawnee residents will have new bus options this summer as Johnson County runs special World Cup transit linking Shawnee with nearby cities and stadium shuttles. A $5 day pass (or longer passes) covers frequent circulator routes centered on Oak Park Mall, plus free airport shuttles to Lenexa and Overland Park throughout the tournament period.
