Job seekers get 'not your average' assistance at the 'Not Your Average Career Fair' (wibw.com) — Job seekers in Topeka just had a chance to polish resumes, practice interviews, and even pick up free business attire at the "Not Your Average Career Fair" at the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library. Hosted by Topeka's Society for Human Resource Management, the event connected residents with hiring employers and pointed them toward more upcoming fairs in the area.

AARP Kansas teaches seniors to spot scams at Topeka expo (wibw.com) — Topeka seniors visiting West Ridge Mall's Aging Untold Expo are getting hands-on lessons from AARP Kansas on how to spot and avoid phone, text, and email scams, along with free health checks and other aging resources. Organizers and former mayor Mike Padilla say the event aims to help Topekans live longer, healthier, and more financially secure lives.
   

3. 'An unspoken stigma': Local firemen shine a light on the mental challenges, resources being on duty (ksnt.com) — Topeka firefighters are speaking openly about the mental strain of constant trauma, fatigue, and loss, and the resources now available within the Topeka Fire Department. With National Suicide Prevention Month as a backdrop, officials highlight in-house mental health professionals, peer support, and the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline for anyone in the community who's struggling or worried about a loved one.
   

4. Washburn football gearing up for 'best 0-3 team in the nation,' in Nebraska-Kearney (ksnt.com) — Washburn University's Topeka-based Ichabods are preparing for a long road trip to face winless Nebraska-Kearney, a team their coach still calls the "best 0-3 team in the nation." After edging Central Oklahoma to move to 1-1 in conference play, Washburn aims to snap a losing streak against the Lopers when they kick off Saturday at 1 p.m.
