Another woman held on $1M bond (cjonline.com) — A 63-year-old Topeka woman has died from injuries suffered in an Aug. 5 assault in central Topeka, and authorities have identified both the victim and the suspect. A 34-year-old Topeka woman remains jailed on a $1 million bond as prosecutors review charges following the victim's death.
   

2. Bods are back: No. 8 Washburn volleyball opens 2026 season Thursday (wibw.com) — Washburn volleyball fans in Topeka can catch the No. 8 Ichabods opening their 2026 season tonight at Lee Arena, starting a four-match home invitational. The team faces Oklahoma Christian at 6 p.m., with additional matches against Arkansas Tech, William Jewell, and Westminster over the tournament's two days.
   

3. Kansas to receive $134 million in transformative Meta settlement • Kansas Reflector (kansasreflector.com) — Kansas officials in Topeka say the state will receive $134 million from a massive national settlement with Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram. The deal forces new safeguards like time limits, school-hour restrictions, and stronger parental controls to reduce social media harms to kids, and could pressure TikTok and YouTube to adopt similar protections.
   

4. Kansas Lottery Powerball, Pick 3 winning numbers for Aug. 26, 2026 (cjonline.com) — Kansas Lottery players can now check the Aug. 26 winning numbers for Powerball, Pick 3, and other games, then claim prizes at retailers or by mail. Bigger winners can redeem tickets in person at Kansas Lottery headquarters on N. Kansas Avenue in downtown Topeka.
   

5. One Kansan gets her driver's license back as cases challenging anti-trans law head to trial • Kansas Reflector (kansasreflector.com) — From a Topeka dateline, Kansans are learning that a Douglas County judge has restored one transgender woman's driver's license after ruling the state mishandled notices under a new gender-marker law. Her case, now combined with another challenge to the law's bathroom and ID rules, heads to a four-day trial starting September 29.
