About 75 to 100 bipartisan workers will hand-check ballots over five days, including a sample sought by a retired Wichita State statistician to test machine-assisted voting accuracy.
   

• Wichita man killed by lightning while hiking Mount Etna (kansas.com) — Friends and family are mourning 29-year-old Wichita native and Wichita State engineering graduate Dylan Standfast, who died after being struck by lightning while hiking Italy's Mount Etna.
