• Sedgwick County Election Office begins recount for two primary election races (kwch.com) — Sedgwick County's Election Office in Wichita is recounting a Kansas House race and portions of a constitutional amendment vote after formal requests were filed. About 75 to 100 bipartisan workers will hand-check ballots over five days, including a sample sought by a retired Wichita State statistician to test machine-assisted voting accuracy.
   

• Wichita man killed by lightning while hiking Mount Etna (kansas.com) — Friends and family are mourning 29-year-old Wichita native and Wichita State engineering graduate Dylan Standfast, who died after being struck by lightning while hiking Italy's Mount Etna. Loved ones remember the avid hiker and former WSU campus ministry staffer for his adventurous spirit, deep faith, and knack for lifting up people around him.
