Police investigate after west Wichita Flock camera cut down (kansas.com) — In west Wichita, police are investigating after someone apparently sawed down a Flock license-plate reader camera near Zoo Boulevard and Central, intensifying debate over surveillance in local neighborhoods. Residents at the nearby Keeper Apartments, along with recent protesters downtown, voiced strong privacy concerns, even as Wichita and surrounding cities continue expanding their use of more than 200 Flock cameras.

Brock Booker Steps Forward for a New Role in Wichita (communityvoiceks.com) — Wichita residents will soon see a new face on the school board as longtime civic volunteer Brock Booker fills the District 3 seat vacated by Ngoc Vuong. Booker, a familiar figure in local politics and arts, will serve through 2027 while also exploring a possible 2027 run for Wichita City Council, potentially reshaping local education and city leadership debates.
   

3. North Wichita crash critically injures 6-year-old and 60-year-old (kwch.com) — A serious two-vehicle crash in north Wichita sent five people to the hospital Sunday morning, including a six-year-old and a 60-year-old who were ejected from a Jeep and are in critical condition. The collision at 17th and Market pushed the Jeep across Broadway, and police are investigating whether impairment played a role while streets were temporarily blocked for evidence collection.
   

4. 'Don't forget them': Veterans honor POWs and MIAs in Wichita (ksn.com) — In Wichita's Veterans Memorial Park, Kansas veterans gathered to honor prisoners of war and those still missing in action, urging neighbors not to forget their sacrifice. Speakers stressed that tens of thousands remain unaccounted for since World War II and called on Wichita residents to keep their memory alive as part of everyday civic life.
   

5. South Wichita suburb looks to reduce how long it keeps Flock data. Here's why (kansas.com) — Haysville police, in the south Wichita suburbs, plan to cut how long they keep Flock license-plate camera data from 30 days down to seven by the end of 2026 after privacy concerns from residents. The department will first move to 14 days this month so officers can adjust investigative practices, while neighboring Sedgwick County communities continue debating the surveillance technology.
