- Kentucky governor candidates are discussing what, if any, policy changes they would like to see related to guns after a week of gun violence in Louisville. In an interview with the Courier Journal, four of the top Republican candidates said they did not support changing specific gun policies, instead focusing on mental health and protecting Second Amendment rights, while Somerset Mayor Alan Keck expressed his support for giving Louisville more autonomy. Democratic Governor Andy Beshear's campaign manager indicated that Beshear supports a "red flag" law, discontinuing the mandated resale of murder weapons and giving Louisville more autonomy on gun laws. - The National Weather Service commemorates the 25th anniversary of a severe weather outbreak that occurred in the Bowling Green area on Apr. 16, 1998.
