If you have never played bridge before, or even played cards, this session will cover the basics. Bridge is one of those wonderful games where you can keep getting better and better the longer you play. And it’s great for developing memory and thinking skills. It’s a great social game requiring at least four players, playing in partnerships. When you finish this particular session, you will understand the two parts of the game: the bidding and the playing. You will be able to do both properly, according to the rules. You will be able to engage in social bridge and play comfortably with any partner and any group. Fun for any age.

Duplicate Bridge Game of Bowling Green

This is the second session in the series, and although the first session, Bridge Basics, is not a pre-requisite, it is recommended for the beginning. Bridge Strategies will focus on bidding and playing beyond the basics. Students signing up for this session should already be able to play bridge according to the rules (what the previous class&nbsp;teaches). You will learn how to use the bidding process to communicate with your partner, so that you arrive at the best level for the hand you are playing. You’ll be introduced to scoring, and you’ll be able to decide whether you should try to win the bid or let the opponents win the bid and play defense on any particular hand. And you will begin to understand some of the winning strategies for the play of the cards so as to get the best result. By the end of this session, you should not only be able to play socially but hold your own in the scoring.

Kick off your weekend with the return of live music at Fountain Square Park, featuring a weekly variety of performers in a vibrant community atmosphere. These concerts are free and open to the public, making them the perfect happy hour activity before enjoying dinner and events in downtown Bowling Green.Live music will begin on Fountain Square at 4:30pm, running until 7pm, every Friday from May 8 thru June 26. Meant to be a follow-up to Bridge Basics, and Bridge
Strategies, this session will go much deeper into bridge playing strategy. It will go over the basics of competitive bridge. Students should be able to engage in duplicate bridge games, which are slightly different in mechanics than social bridge, and hold their own. If you already can play bridge socially, playing duplicate is easy if you understand a few simple rules. And even if duplicate bridge has no interest for you, this session will also cover some special bidding and playing strategies that will improve your social bridge playing, too.
