Here are the top four stories in Bowling Green today:

  1. Former Western Kentucky University President Dr. Gary Ransdell and former Bowling Green Mayor Johnny Webb have been inducted into the Junior Achievement Business Hall of Fame for 2023. During the induction ceremony, Dr. Ransdell expressed appreciation for his mentors, while Johnny Webb spoke about the importance of hard work and never giving up. Additionally, WBKO and Sublime Media Group received an impact award for their contributions to Junior Achievement. (WBKO)
  2. The City of Bowling Green will hold a free rabies vaccination clinic on Mar. 18 at Pedigo Park for all residents, the first of four clinics planned for the year. Dogs must be leashed, cats and other small animals must be in carriers, and pets receiving a vaccination must be at least four months old. Code Compliance and Animal Protection Division Manager Brad Schargordski said they aim to remove barriers to vaccinations, with cost being the most significant obstacle. (WBKO)
  3. A Bowling Green federal drug trafficking conspiracy has resulted in three sentences. Glenn Budd, 41, was sentenced to 10 years in prison followed by five years of supervised release for planning to possess with the intent to distribute 500 grams or more of a methamphetamine mixture. Paige Russell, 22, received a sentence of time served followed by four years of supervised release, while Rickshard Collins, 31, received the same sentence as Budd after planning to possess with the intent to distribute 1,288.6 grams of methamphetamine. The case was investigated by the ATF Bowling Green Field Office and the Bowling Green/Warren County AHIDTA Drug Task Force. (wnky.com)
  4. The seniors at Arcadia Senior Living in Bowling Green have once again gone viral on TikTok with their National Barbie Day video. They previously recreated Rihanna's Super Bowl halftime show and received bouquets of roses from the pop star and Jay-Z with personalized notes expressing their love for the seniors' video. The latest video, featuring the seniors dressed in fabulous pink and blue outfits, dancing and singing inside a homemade Barbie doll box, has already amassed nearly 200,000 views. (WTVQ)

  • The Downtown Bowling Green Meet Up hosted by Ment CoWork last week discussed updates and news in Bowling Green's downtown district. Topics included homecoming festivities, parking updates, new businesses, sidewalk lease renewals, and issues related to the Mardi Gras Madness event.   • The Kentucky Housing Corp participated in the dedication of the 100th home built by Habitat for Humanity of Bowling Green, which was given to a family displaced by a tornado in 2021. KHC allocated funding for rehousing efforts and was proud of its involvement. (KY Housing Corp via Twitter)
  • Kenny Cropper, a 60-year-old with a learning disability who is unable to
    obtain a driver's license, received a new electric bicycle from a Facebook fundraiser started by his colleagues at Howard's Cycling & Fitness in Bowling Green. The fundraiser raised almost $4,000, allowing Cropper to buy an e-bike with money left over for accessories and proper apparel. (Bowling Green Daily News)
