📰 News we're reading

• A handful of Kentucky baseball players have already hit the transfer portal (on3.com subscription) — A University of Kentucky pitcher from Brandenburg, who didn’t see game action this season, has entered the NCAA transfer portal along with several other Wildcats. While their departures won’t affect last year’s on-field results, it could reshape next season’s roster and gives Brandenburg fans another local athlete to watch as he chooses his next program.

• River barge carrying supplies for Brent Spence Bridge arrives in Cincinnati, completing 600+ mile journey (wlwt.com) — A massive crane barge for the new Brent Spence companion bridge just steamed up the Ohio River between Brandenburg and Louisville, marking a key step in a major regional traffic project. While construction is centered in Cincinnati and northern Kentucky, Brandenburg residents may feel long-term travel and freight benefits as this corridor upgrade moves forward toward its 2030s completion.
