• HMP&L considers adding natural gas to its energy portfolio (the-hendersonian.com) — Henderson Municipal Power & Light is weighing whether to add natural gas generation, either by partnering on a regional plant or potentially building one locally, to help secure long-term power needs. Any new natural gas source wouldn’t come online until at least 2031, so HMP&L will keep relying on a mix of contracts, including a new coal-based deal covering 30% of its needs from 2027–2037. 
• Indiana groups urge moratorium on data center development (tristatehomepage.com) — From a Henderson-based report, more than two dozen public-interest groups are asking local governments across Indiana to pause new data center projects. They say a moratorium would give officials time to study impacts on power costs, water use, noise, and environmental strain before allowing more large-scale facilities tied to artificial intelligence technology.
