Swimmers from across central Kentucky will have the opportunity to hone their skills at a series of swim camps starting in May hosted by Transylvania University’s swim team. The camps are designed to give swimmers who had their 2020 seasons shortened or canceled a head start on the 2021 season.

“So many club swimmers didn’t get the chance to have a full season last summer because of COVID closures. Our Preseason Club Camps are an opportunity for these athletes to get back into the pool for higher level instruction ahead of the summer season,” said Dave Doolin, head coach of Transy’s swimming and diving teams. 

To register, swimmers must have one year of summer league experience. These camps are not open to beginning students. The programs offered include:

Preseason Club Camp

The Preseason Club Camp will give swimmers a chance to get a head start and good base going into the 2021 summer season. Swimmers can register for one or more weeks.  

Nike Swim Camp

This is a camp tailored to the competitive swimmer. We will have pool time and classroom time for the athletes during this camp. June 18 is a bonus day that will focus on starts and turns. Each athlete will have to bring their lunch for this all-day camp. 

Postseason Tune-Up Camp

This is a camp for club swimmers getting ready for their conference championships. It will be focused on starts, turns and finishes.

Fall Swim Lessons

Transylvania will also host swim lessons for beginning swimmers this fall, with dates, times and pricing to be announced. Transylvania student-athletes will serve as instructors, and appropriate COVID protocols will be in place.
