Hurricane Harvey Louisiana: Acadia Parish Schools Reopening
BREAKING: Acadia Public schools will reopen Thursday.

CROWLEY, LA — Acadia Parish students better sharpen those pencils because all schools and facilities will open Thursday as Tropical Storm Harvey — formerly known as Hurricane Harvey — moves inland and loses strength.
The school system made the announcement on its website.
The National Weather Service said Harvey is weakening, though flood rains continue over southwestern Louisiana. The storm is currently about 60 miles north of Cameron. Officials expect Harvey will leave central Louisiana Wednesday night and move into the Lower Mississippi Valley through Thursday.

The National Weather Service in Lake Charles on Wednesday morning said showers and thunderstorms will continue to affect the area through Thursday. Excessive rainfall amounts are likely in the area through Thursday, and flash flooding is likely due to already-drenched soils. A flash flood watch remains in effect for Acadia through Thursday evening.
An additional 5 to 10 inches of rain is possible for southwestern Louisiana.
A flood warning remains in effect for for the Bayou Des Cannes, near Eunice, Bayou Nezpique, near Basile, and the Mermentau River, near Mermentau. Moderate flooding is projected for all of the rivers.
A flash flood watch is in effect for the entire region on Thursday. Additional showers could lead to additional flooding.
