Hurricane Harvey Louisiana: McNeese State University Closes
BREAKING: McNeese State University in Lake Charles will be closed Wednesday as heavy rains sweep through the southwestern part of the state.

LAKE CHARLES, LA — McNeese State University in Lake Charles will be closed Wednesday as heavy rains, remnants of Hurricane Harvey, sweep through the southwestern part of Louisiana, officials said in a statement.
The university said on its website Tuesday that it canceled classes and closed the school Monday through Wednesday due to projections of more heavy rain and flooding in the region. Tropical Storm Harvey is expected to make landfall in Cameron Parish on Wednesday.
"There is a continuing threat of heavy rain and flooding in Southwest Louisiana through Wednesday," the school said. The university's emergency preparedness team will monitor weather updates and take additional action as necessary, the school said.
McNeese offices will reopen at 9 a.m. Thursday. Classes are scheduled to resume at 9:30 a.m. Thursday.

"Employees and students should closely monitor local media now through Wednesday for local weather conditions," the school said.
