Hurricane Harvey Louisiana: Watch Streets Flood In Vinton

Sheriff Tony Mancuso said they are doing some evacuations in Vinton.

VINTON, LA — New video shows streets flooding in Calcasieu Parish as the last bits of Hurricane Harvey weaken over the southwestern part of the state.

Fields and roads flooded around the town of Vinton, though few homes appear to be flooded, the Associated Press reported.

The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning for western Calcasieu Parish — as well as western Beauregard Parish and Vernon Parish — until 2:15 p.m. Central time.

State troopers closed Interstate 10 to westbound traffic at Vinton. Only emergency workers are allowed to pass through. The state Department of Wildlife and Fisheries was sent out to perform boat rescues in eastern Texas, near Orange.

Calcasieu Parish government offices were closed Wednesday.

Officials said on the parish's website that many roads are "impassable, especially in east Lake Charles."

Parish officials "will re-evaluate the situation on Wednesday afternoon before deciding on any further closures."

Waste Management put trash collection services on hold Wednesday and plans to resume services Thursday. Some customers’ trash might not be picked up this week.
