UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Louisiana and Optum are hosting a free First Responder Wellness Event to honor Baton Rouge’s first responders and remind them of the vital resources available to support their mental, emotional and physical well-being.

First responders often face intense trauma and stress in their daily work – this event is designed to help them, and their significant others, prioritize their own well-being. Attendees will benefit from expert-led discussions on topics including trauma recovery, physical wellness, mindfulness, resiliency, relationship health and stress management.

Event speakers include Baton Rouge Police Deputy Chief Sharon Douglas and Dr. Jose Calderon-Abbo, Chief Medical Officer for Behavioral Health for Optum/UnitedHealthcare

The event is free and open to all first responders and their significant others. Attendees will have access to massage therapists, physical therapists, assisted stretching techniques, a mobile medical clinic, an emotional support dog and a variety of mental health resources. They can also enjoy a catered lunch, door prizes and additional wellness support.
