Officials say lessons from a Mardi Gras shooting in Clinton earlier this year are shaping how officers drill, critique their performance, and prepare for future emergencies in local schools.

• AT&T to FCC: We won't fix 600 copper outages — Here's where they all happened, city by city (wirelessestimator.com) — AT&T is asking federal regulators for permission to permanently shut down damaged copper landline service at 600 sites, including two sizable outages in Clinton that hit 11 and 13 circuits in early June. If approved, affected Clinton customers would have to move to newer AT&T phone products or wireless options instead of seeing traditional copper lines restored.
