SoLAcc, LPSO celebrate welding graduates (katc.com) — Six incarcerated students at the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office Public Safety Complex in Scott just earned technical welding diplomas through a partnership with South Louisiana Community College. The program, part of SoLAcc’s Prison Education Program, trains inmates for high-demand welding jobs and even lets graduates continue toward an associate degree. Local leaders say it’s changing lives while helping meet Acadiana’s need for skilled workers.
