• Here's how much energy giants will pay for new Lake Charles bridge after past chemical spill (nola.com) — State officials have quietly settled a long-running lawsuit over the 1994 chemical spill at the foot of the Lake Charles I‑10 bridge, with Phillips 66 and Sasol paying $2 million toward the new bridge’s $2.3 billion cost. The payment, far below what Louisiana once sought, will go directly to the tolled replacement project that many Calcasieu Parish residents rely on and have closely followed.

The nonprofit offers small in-person classes in Lake Charles, Jennings, and DeRidder, plus online options, helping adults boost reading, math, confidence, and job prospects across the region.
