Perfect students recognized by school board (websterparishjournal.com) — Minden families will be glad to know local students at Minden High and other Webster Parish schools earned perfect LEAP scores and statewide leadership honors, while the school board approved key policies for the 2026–27 year. Members also backed facility upgrades, technology purchases, and a tax rededication election to keep District 3 funds working within the district. 
2. Police Jury joins city for outside review of MMC (websterparishjournal.com) — Webster Parish Police Jury has joined the Minden City Council in hiring an outside advisory firm to scrutinize Minden Medical Center and help protect local healthcare access. Leaders say they’re concerned about the hospital’s debt and federal tax liens tied to its management company, and want clearer information and options to keep the facility open for Minden residents.
3. High school girls basketball: New Minden head coach has winning background (press-herald.com) — Minden High’s girls basketball program is getting a new leader, as LaDarien Amos takes over as head coach after a successful playoff run at Homer. He brings a strong track record of postseason appearances and says he’s focused on guiding Minden students toward success on and off the court. The Lady Tiders finished 16-14 last season and exited in the first playoff round.
4. Notice of Death – August 5, 2026 (websterparishjournal.com) — Minden and Webster Parish residents are notified of upcoming visitations and services for several neighbors, including ceremonies at Rose-Neath Funeral Home and First Baptist Church Minden. Camp Minden opens new $12.1 million training barracks to enhance readiness (bossierpress.com) — A new $12.1 million Collective Training Barracks is now open at Camp Minden, adding classrooms, offices, and beds for 168 soldiers to support training and emergency missions. Guard leaders say the LEED Silver-designed facility boosts readiness while cutting energy costs, and it further cements Camp Minden’s long-term role as a key training hub just outside town.
