• Critical health violations found in seven Caddo Parish restaurants (shreveporttimes.com) — If you eat out locally, note that Longwood General Restaurant on LA Hwy 169 in Mooringsport logged four critical health violations in late April, the most in Caddo Parish that week. State inspectors also cited several Shreveport restaurants, and residents can check the online dashboard for up‑to‑date inspection details before choosing where to dine. 
• 41 smaller earthquakes detected in northwest Louisiana during past 2 months by new equipment (nola.com) — Mooringsport residents are part of a newly scrutinized earthquake zone, as upgraded USGS monitors show dozens of small quakes across northwest Louisiana since the March 5 Coushatta 4.9 event. While the Mooringsport area hasn’t shaken since early 2025, nearby corridors along I‑49 and around Coushatta are now showing frequent minor quakes that researchers are studying for possible links to oil and gas wastewater injection.
