Several honorees live or work in Natchitoches Parish schools, including Outstanding Young Professional Aaliyah Seawood and Friend to Education awardee Donna “DeeDee” Perot, highlighting local excellence in teaching and community service.

2. Natchitoches man airlifted after pickup truck rolls over him at his home (natchitochesparishjournal.com) — A 66-year-old Natchitoches man was seriously hurt when his pickup rolled over him at his home just north of town, prompting a rapid response from parish deputies, fire crews, and Natchitoches Regional Medical Center EMS. He was airlifted from a landing zone near I-49 to a regional trauma center, and deputies are still investigating how the truck came to roll.

3. 10 years later, soldier's mother still fighting anti-terrorism lawsuit (ksla.com) — A Natchitoches mother is still battling for promised military-related payments more than 20 years after her son, Army Sgt. Lee Godbolt, was killed in Iraq. After being told to expect millions in benefits tied to an anti-terrorism lawsuit, she says deadlines have passed, a lawyer was exposed as fraudulent, and she’s now pushing for answers and fair treatment for all Gold Star families.

LSMSA instructors named best public high school teachers in the nation (louisianaradionetwork.com) — Natchitoches’ own Louisiana School for Math, Science and the Arts has been ranked No. 1 in the nation for public high school teachers and also tops STEM rankings, spotlighting the town on a national stage. With highly credentialed faculty and just under 300 students from across Louisiana, LSMSA leaders say they focus on mentoring, research, and personal growth alongside rigorous academics.
