Here are the top stories in New Orleans today:

  1. Former President of the Section 8 Resident Council for the Housing Authority Board is requesting a hearing from City Council after she was removed from her position by the mayor without giving a reason. According to a statement from Mayor Cantrell's office, this process is typical for removing someone from a directly appointed position, but according to state law, this is not the case for the Housing Authority. 2. A man was fatally shot in a backyard in Metairie on Monday night. Around 7:30 p.m., police responded to the scene on Academy Drive and found the victim who had been shot at least once. JPSO is continuing to investigate the shooting. (FOX 8 Local First)
  3. A 15-year-old boy has been arrested and booked for the second-degree murder of an 18 year old Saturday night on Canal Street. The two juveniles, who are both from the Baton Rouge area, allegedly had a confrontation around 8:30 p.m. which culminated in the elder individual sustaining multiple gunshot wounds. They were taken to the hospital where they later succumbed to their injuries. (FOX8LIVE)
