Here are the top stories in New Orleans today:

  1. Monday night saw three separate shootings transpire across the city. In the first incident, a man was shot and killed on I-10 around 9 p.m. Then just an hour later, another man sustained multiple gunshot wound injuries on Isidore Street and was taken to the hospital for treatment. The final shooting occurred just before 1 a.m. when a woman was shot at the intersection of Cherry Street and Airline Highway. (WDSU New Orleans)
  2. New Orleans will be hosting the 71st Miss Universe competition this January! The event will be held at the New Orleans Earnest N. Morial Convention Center. Mayor LaToya Cantrell released a statement announcing the competition saying NOLA's decision to host the event will demonstrate its world class skills and hospitality. (WDSU New Orleans)
  3. New Orleans rapper Mystikal, also known as, Michael Tyler, plead not guilty to charges of raping and choking a woman in his home in July. His attorneys claim the accusation is only motivated by money. He faces life in prison if convicted. (BRProud.com)

  • A man accused of killing a NOPD officer in 2017 begins trial on Friday. Darren Bridges allegedly shot Officer Marcus McNeil while McNeil was trying to arrest and detain him. (WDSU New Orleans)
