Here are the top stories in New Orleans today:

  1. Two adults were shot and fatally wounded on Tuesday night near Westwego. JPSO deputies responded to a report of gunfire inside a house in an unincorporated area around 9 p.m. and found two victims, a man and a woman. The man was pronounced dead at the scene and the woman died at the hospital where she was taken for treatment. (FOX 8 Local First)
  2. According to an attorney representing NOPD officers, many are frustrated by the city's Mardi Gras parade pay disparity that is offered to outside agencies as incentive to bring more security in for the parades. Outside officers that come to Louisiana for Mardi Gras will receive $50 to $75 an hour for the same work. The city has yet to address if NOPD officers will get supplemental pay. (FOX 8 Local First)
  3. Through the first 17 days of 2023, New Orleans has averaged over 23 stolen cars per day with a total of 404 stolen vehicles just a few weeks into the new year. City Council hosted a session to address violent crime prevention in response to last year's drastic increase in crime. A total of 4,400 cars were stolen in 2022. (WWLTV.com)
