🌱 Abortion Ban Restraining Order Lifted + Mid-City Stabbing

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in New Orleans.

Hello, friends! It's Saturday in New Orleans and I'm back in your inbox with everything you need to know about what's happening in town. Let's dive right in.

First, today's weather:

An afternoon thunderstorm. High: 90 Low: 79.

Here are the top three stories in New Orleans today:

  1. An Orleans Parish civil court judge has vacated the temporary restraining order for Louisiana's trigger bans on abortion, meaning the state's three abortion clinics will potentially have to close for the time being. The judge has moved the case to East Baton Rouge Parish, arguing that the since the plaintiff in the legal case that spawned the restraining order was in Shreveport, Orleans Parish is the improper location for the case to be heard. (The Lens)
  2. NOPD was called in investigate a fatal stabbing that transpired in Mid-City on Friday morning. A man was found who had suffered multiple stab wounds and was declared dead at the scene around 8 a.m. on Banks Street. Investigators have yet to release any information on suspects or motives for the crime. (WDSU New Orleans)
  3. A two-week-old baby was rescued from inside a hot car at the Slidell Walmart on Thursday. Thanks to an employee who noticed that an impaired woman who had frequented the store earlier in the day was without her child, police were called and the baby is expected to make a full recovery. The infant is now in the custody of Child and Family services. (NOLA.com)
